HSA posters outline best practice in abattoirs

The Humane Slaughter Association (HSA) has produced a new series of technical information posters outlining best practice in abattoirs and processing plants.
There are three posters available, including the use of mechanical stunning devices for poultry, the stunning of cattle with captive-bolt equipment and the electrical stunning of sheep
As an HSA spokesman said: “The posters are designed to encourage best practice with clear and concise information for operating staff. The aim is to illustrate how to use slaughter equipment correctly and they are designed for display in slaughterhouses at the relevant processing points.”
The poultry poster is also suitable for display on-farm, since the type of equipment involved can be used as an emergency culling tool, added the HSA.
Posters are available laminated in A4 and A3 sizes, at ÂŁ3.00 and ÂŁ4.00 each, respectively, including postage and packing. They can be viewed at the HSA website, where a printable order form is available.
