Industry ‘legends’ honoured by International Egg Commission
Industry “legends” Peter Kemp (pictured above), OBE and Aled Griffiths have been presented with International Egg Commission Honorary Life Member Awards at its 2012 conference in London.
Mr Kemp was owner and managing director of Yorkshire Egg Producers from 1970, selling eggs under the Goldenlay Brand. In 1988, he sold the business, but stayed on to oversee the integration of Yorkshire Egg Producers into Deans, later becoming a consultant at Deans and Noble. He first attended the IEC conference in Paris in 1976, and served as its chairman from 1991-94.
Mr Griffiths (below) of Oaklands Farm Eggs was a member of the organising committee for the IEC conference when it was last held in London in 1986. He was past-chairman of the IEC production committee and has sat on the executive committee. He is one of only 12 delegates who attended both the 1986 and the 2012 annual conferences in London. Mr Griffiths also served as chairman of the NFU Poultry Committee and was the founding chairman of the British Egg Industry Council.
Leading egg packer Noble Foods was awarded the 2012 Crystal Egg Award for its “outstanding commitment to corporate and social responsibility”. The company ran a number of campaigns last year supporting charitable organisations.
Egg processing company Eurovo was recognised as the 2012 EPI Clive Frampton Egg Products “company of the year” at the IEC conference. The judges’ decision was based on a wide range of business practices, including quality and sustainability. The award is named in honour of Clive Frampton, who passed away in March 2012.
