New £4.2m packing plant for Chippindales

Yorkshire-based Chippindale Foods has built a £4.2m egg grading and packing facility, double the size of its previous site.

The company relocated earlier this year from Harrogate to a 55,000sq ft site in Flaxby, near Knaresborough, with the capacity to process 1m eggs a day.

“This has been a hugely successful year with demand continuing to grow for our free-range eggs,” said managing director Nick Chippindale.

“The relocation to our new purpose-built site in Flaxby will offer us the additional space we need now, while also providing room for further expansion as we secure new contracts.”

He added that the new plant’s proximity to the A1 would boost transport links. It also boasts a quality assurance testing area and a “custom built” demonstration kitchen.

Chippindale Foods is behind the “Free Rangers” brand, which has listings in a number of supermarkets. The company has a strategy to increase turnover by 50% in the next three years and grow its workforce from the current 40 members of staff.
