New enzyme can reduce poultry feed costs by 7%

EU producers are set to gain more value from maize-based poultry diets with the use of a new feed enzyme.

The EU Commission has authorised the use of Danisco’s new more heat stable and more concentrated xylanase, amylase and protease enzyme combination (Avizyme 1505) for maize-based broiler, turkey and duck feed. “It maintains efficacy after exposure to feed conditioning and pelleting temperatures of up to 90C,” said the company.

Niels Otto Damholt, the firm’s European regional director added: “Managing feed costs continues to be one of the main focus areas for our customers.

“The unique combination of xylanase, amylase and protease in Avizyme 1505 helps poultry producers maximise value from maize-based feed. For example, broiler producers feeding maize diets containing wheat and by-products can currently reduce feed costs by about 7% with the new product.”
