Potters Poultry International wins award from American Humane Association

Potters Poultry International has been awarded the Manufacturers Seal of Approval by the American Humane Association for their welfare-friendly aviary at the International Poultry Exhibition in Atlanta.

The award was presented to Potters by Kathi Brock and Will Gillis of the AHA’s farm animal program, for their Avitier 125-4 + Avinest.

Potters has been making and designing aviary systems for more than 22 years and its latest design is the first aviary system to achieve the seal of approval.

Mike Button, export manager for Potters Poultry, said: “It is great accomplishment for a UK manufacturer, especially when there are not many of us left.”

The product is an endorsement of the research carried out on the company’s own farms and on customer farms around the world into the production of welfare-friendly multi-tier systems and nest boxes.

“We are extremely pleased to achieve the high standards set by the American Humane for equipment,” Mr Button added. “With the market changing to welfare-friendly systems in America, we look forward to working further with the industry and the American Humane Association.”

Potters Poultry has now launched its multi-tier systems in the US market. “We were a big hit at the Atlanta Poultry Show, so I’m hopeful we will do well.”
