Semex conference discusses the dairy industry’s future

What has the next decade got in store for dairying and how can dairy farmers create a more stable, profitable and sustainable industry?

These will be the topics up for discussion at the 2010 Semex 20/20 Vision Conference, Glasgow Grosvenor Hilton Hotel on 17 to 19 January.

Experts are already dubbing the next decade “the decade of dairying opportunity” says Semex’s Gordon Miller.

“Population growth will drive consumption and demand for dairy products will be higher than they’ve ever been – this should contribute to increasing prices.

“Certainly the pace of change we have seen through the first decade of the twenty-first century will be maintained through the second and there will be many challenges too.”

For anyone wanting to get to grips with what may be in store, the 2010 Semex Conference is an essential starting point, he says.

“The conference is renowned for examining practical problems and for highlighting profitable solutions applicable to hands-on dairy farmers.”

The conference will hear from representatives from the retail and milk processor sectors, the main representative body for farming, independent consultants and nutritionists, breeders and farmers.
