Turkey processor sheds 400 jobs

Cranberry Foods, the UK’s second largest turkey processor, has confirmed that it is to shed 400 jobs at its Abergavenny plant in Monmouthshire.

Slaughtering and dressing birds will cease, but the packing line will continue to handle products from other plants, including one in Derbyshire where more than 100 new workers will be employed.

The move follows a business review and a period of consultation with trade unions at which Cranberry blamed restructuring on a fall in demand for home produced turkey meat.
