Youngest-ever app designer develops Blade Farming App

Blade Farming calf rearers are benefiting from a new app designed by what is thought to be the youngest-ever app designer in the world.
Ed Goodall, 12, has designed and developed the new app that is currently being used by Blade calf rearers to enter their production information, which is then directly uploaded onto a system at the company’s head office.
Ed is a classmate of company founder and managing director Richard Phelps’ son, Harry. He is Europe’s youngest-ever designer and the Guinness Book of World Records is currently checking to see if a 12-year-old app designer in the USA is older than him.
Mr Phelps said: “When Ed came to me looking for the chance to design an app, I thought it would be a great idea for Blade to have something that would improve the feedback system for our calf rearers.
“Ed has finished the first phrase of the Blade app and there are more updates to come – he has done a great job and I am really proud that our app was designed by possibly one of the world’s youngest-ever app designers.”
He said he hoped the new app would help encourage more young farmers to become involved in the beef operation, which currently finishes 20,000 head of cattle a year.
