Looking for something a bit different to boost your combine fleet? How about this 12ft-cut 1936 Case, in working order and still on the same farm that bought it more than 70 years ago?

It’s a Model Q pull-type machine and is to be auctioned alongside modern kit on 5 September at Hall Farm, Great Bricett, Ipswich, Suffolk.

It was one of the first combines to come to Britain and up to 200 people at a time used to come to see it working.

As well as a 27hp petrol-paraffin engine to drive the mechanism, it boasts a gravity-emptied 1.5t tank and a mechanical meter that measured the volume of grain going into the tank.

Output was 3t/hour and on one memorable day it harvested 30t of wheat from 27 acres.

Bill King from auctioneer Cheffins hopes it could fetch £5000-£10,000. That’s a useful jump in value from the £500 it cost the farm to buy new in 1936
