Space Buddy boosts your 4×4’s carrying capacity

Somerset firm Sky Team Motorcycles imports off-road motorbikes and makes bike racks for the backs of motorhomes, but owner Charles White (who comes from a farming background) has diversified into making this Space Buddy rack for Land Rovers and other off-roaders.

The steel rack doesn’t fold, but a support bar is permanently fitted to the tow bar mounting holes, with the tow ball able to be used as normal. The rack drops into the ends of the support bar and is secured by two pins, so it’s quick to take on and off. The LED rear light clusters are plugged into the normal lighting socket.

The Space Buddy can be used to cart anything from bales to fence posts and has a maximum loading of 150kg. No trailer test is required and it’s apparently easy to reverse. The company plans to sell them through ag dealers and they cost £475.
