Makita launches monster 4,000Nm impact wrench
© Makita The latest addition to Makita’s range of impact wrenches promises a staggering 4,000Nm of nut-busting torque.
With a fastening output of 3,150Nm, the firm reckons the TW010G will wipe the floor with pretty much all corded and pneumatic alternatives.

To tame it, the tool comes with four-stage power selection, which allows operators to dial down impacts per minute from the 1,750 offered on “max” mode.
It also has three “auto-stop” settings that alter how quickly the electric brake locks on, a “full speed” mode on the trigger switch, and a 360deg swivelling head.

This and the long 1in-square anvil should help access recessed bolts without fitting additional extension bars.
Power is provided by a brushless motor fuelled from one of Makita’s 40V Max XGT lithium-ion batteries that, once fitted, takes the total weight to about 12kg.
The price for such prodigious performance? £584, excluding the power pack.
