Stihl bolsters battery brush cutter range with gutsy FSA 250
© Stihl Stihl has added a new high-powered brush cutter to its professional-grade cordless line-up that’s built to handle both mowing and clearing work.
Peak output from the FSA 250’s EC motor is 1.6kW, giving it comparable cutting power to the firm’s 38cc FS 240 C-E petrol model.

This is sufficient for it to run an array of cutting attachments from metal and polymer blades to a shrub-clearing shredder and a circular saw for trimming small trees.
It will also spin a traditional line trimming head with a 480mm mowing diameter.
For peak energy efficiency, the tool is fitted with a three-stage power adjuster that allows operators to tweak output to suit the task and help prolong battery life.
Like the rest of Stihl’s pro-spec cordless range, the FSA 250 runs on 36V AP batteries, with the high-spec 8.8Ah AP 500 S pack recommended for maximum performance.
This will give up to 65min of cutting time when fitted with a plastic blade or 32min with a line mowing head.
To extend working times further, buyers can team it with a backpack battery unit, the largest of which is capable of running it for up to five hours.
Other features of note include an easy-to-clean air filter and IPX 4 certification that allows it to be used in all weathers.
Retail price for the bare tool is £640, with an AP 500 S battery coming in at £365 and suitable chargers costing from £83.
