Glencore Grain seeks bioethanol suppliers

Glencore Grain is looking for wheat growers to sign up to contracts to supply the Ensus ethanol plant on Teesside, due to open this summer.
The site is the UK’s first wheat-based ethanol plant and will take 1-1.2m tonnes of home-grown grain this harvest.
Glencore is the sole supplier, and senior wheat trader Nick Oakhill said contracts were available to growers throughout the UK. “We’ve tried to keep it as simple as possible. There are no restrictions on area or number of growers and we’re looking for straight feed wheat.”
Contracted growers will get access to the firm’s Grainman system, where they could view daily prices and decide when to sell, he said. An extra energy crop area payment of about €18.22/ha (ÂŁ16/ha) is also available.
Interested growers should contact their Glencore farm trader or Masstock contact for more information.
