VIDEO: Heath launches bale grab

Already known for its range of bale chasers, Warwickshire engineering company Heath has launched a grab designed for large scale contractors and farmers.

John Heath farms nearly 1200ha (3000 acres) and handles more than 60,000 bales each year, resulting in him needing a grab beefy enough to cope with a high workload.

Unlike some grabs, tines on the SuperGrab are mounted vertically on each side of the machine, resulting in a pincer mechanism. Each tine is made from Hardox steel and, depending on the particular application, can be welded in different configurations.

“The big benefit is that there are no spikes to pull out of bales once in position, meaning there’s no danger of pulling the stack away when reversing,” explains Mr Heath.

Because it grabs bales instead of spiking them, it’s straighforward to turn bales, too. All commercial sized bales can be handled, as well as round bales.

The Heath SuperChaser, SuperChaser Extra, MultiChaser and SuperGrab (which costs £2950) are now available through Gloucestershire distributor Thomas Gaden (01451 832 078).
