New Holland also had its new bale-weighing system at work. Mounted on BB9050 and 9080 balers this season, in 2010 it will be available on all models.
The weighing cell uses two sensors mounted at the rear of the discharge shoot, and as each bale balances before offloading, it has 2-3 seconds to take the weight. Weights then flash up on the Intelliview III monitor in the cab, after which the accumulated number and weights are stored ready for billing.
New Holland says there’s a demand from customers who want to charge for weight instead of on a per acre or hectare basis, and also from their customers who are feeding straw and as part of a ration and need specifically-sized bales.
