Agritechnica 09: Honeybee’s floating header
This hi-tech header from Canadian manufacturer Honeybee uses a floating draper system to carry the crop to the intake elevator.
The firm’s export sales manager, Gerard Wilson, reckons it is 25% more efficient than a standard unit and by floating the table on airbags it is able to flow effortlessly over ground contours, he says.
This model, the grain belt plus, has been around for two to three years, but as far as we know none have made it to the UK. At 3t for a 11m table it’s no lightweight so two trailing wheels help support its weight.
Knife, bed, and reel are all hydraulic, making it quick to reverse in the event of a blockage.
