Agritechnica 2011: New Holland combines get 14m headers

Until now the widest header on offer for New Holland combines was a 10.7m (35ft) unit.

However at the show the company unveiled this 12m (40ft) aluminium-framed unit developed in collaboration with Biso and we’re told there is a 14m (45ft) version in the pipeline.

To deal with the flex over such a width, there’s a split auger and knife-drive with power transmitted to the cutterbar from the centre of the header.

The bigger unit will also have a split reel.

To handle tall tangled crops there is an extending table and integrated side-knives that fold in and out of work.

Next year a demonstration machine will be working in the UK with production units available for harvest 2013.
