Highland 2010: Rancher variable width handling equipment
Cattle crushes that can have their widths reduced to accommodate different sizes of cattle are now reasonably commonplace.
Castle Douglas-based Rancher has now taken this concept further and has introduced a variable width system for the race which channels cattle into the crush.
The company reasons that cattle are better controlled by having them travel through a race which is set to accommodate their size. Simple to adjust, a large pin releases one side of the race to allow it to be repositioned in a series of pre-set notches.
Available in linkable 3m straight and curved sections, price of a straight section is £240 with the curved slightly more at £256.
