Interest rate soars at Vintage auction
A seemingly innocently catalogued Fordson E27N crawler from the late 1940s caused a stir at Cheffins” Cambs Saleground.
Included in the auctioneer”s autumn vintage sale, held on Oct 23, the crawler was a County conversion bearing the serial number 1002, reputed to have been the second E27N conversion to come off the production line.
The machine was offered in full working order, having been barn stored for many years and was still in completely original condition – with the exception of a new fan belt and reconditioned magneto.
Crowd of Collectors Even though it was not offered for sale until late in the afternoon, heavy rain did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd of collectors.
Many had waited most of the day just to see this one item go under the hammer and in the end it achieved strong bidding and a price of ÂŁ4400. Pic in Nick”s Pics/Cheffins Crawler.jpg
