Combine cabs may be better at keeping out the dust than they were, but anyone harvesting itchy crops like barley or oats can still find life gets pretty uncomfortable. But Eccotemp UK reckons it has the answer in the form of an outdoor portable shower that can be transported around the farm in a 4×4 or pickup.

Widely used in the US and Canada, it hooks up to an LPG gas bottle and any standard hosepipe. If no mains water is available, a water reservoir and inline pump can be used instead. All half-inch BSP hose fittings, the gas regulator and the hose are included with the shower and the auto ignition is powered by two D Cell batteries.

The shower is an on-demand unit operated by an on/off control on the shower head. Water temperature and flow rate are adjustable, the latter variable between 2 and 6 litres/min. An 11kg propane bottle should give about 28 hours of continuous use. Cost is £179 + £7.80 postage and packing. No mention is made of shower curtains, so those showering in built-up areas are presumably advised not to upset passing ramblers or horses.
