Kuhn trims trailed Primor blower-feeder working height

Low shed roofs should prove less troublesome for Kuhn’s latest high-capacity bedding and feeding machine, thanks to a height-saving redesign.

The trailed Primor GII 110.1 Polydrive tops out at 3m with its discharge chute fully extended to fire straw up to 18m rightwards, and just 2.67m once folded down for feeding.

This apparently hasn’t limited carrying capacity, with the 5.5m-long bed able to accommodate two big square bales end to end or 11cu m of loose material, the latter more easily loaded thanks to new flared body sides.

Alternatively, there’s space for four 1.8m- or three 2m-diameter round bales. These are held by the hydraulic clamps of the firm’s “unroll system” when bedding, allowing the first to be unravelled without interference from those behind.

The ferocity of material processing is adjusted by altering the proximity of the tine bank to the hydraulically engaged feed rotor, with its large diameter said to discourage long fibres from wrapping.

Straw is then blown by a turbine positioned downstream of a two-speed gearbox to offer rotation speeds of 310-620rpm.

Options include an internal camera to monitor the load and a dust suppression system comprising a 64-litre water tank – reckoned to be enough for 12-18 bales – and three application nozzles.

List price is £51,650.
