LAMMA 2009: Amazone ZA-M spreaders

Amazone’s top-spec ZA-M Ultra fertiliser spreaders are now rated to apply material up to a 52m working width.

Previously approved to spread certain products up to 48m, the unit can now be used to travel up alternate tramlines in the 25m and 26m systems sometimes employed by potato and veg growers. The German manufacturer reports a significant shift away from pto-power to hydraulic disc-drive. This has the advantage of allowing the discs to be run at different speeds so that spread width can be gradually reduced as the machine approaches angled headlands, much like auto-section shut-off for sprayer booms. Amazone also reports a trend towards more weigh-cell-equipped spreaders, allowing operators to avoid the time-consuming calibration process and significantly improving accuracy.
