LAMMA 2012: Wecan lets you renew leys in one pass

Renewing grass leys properly can be a time-consuming and costly business, but Devon firm Wecan has come up with a machine that should make it a simpler, one-pass task.

A Korean-built rotovator chops through sprayed-off land, a levelling board then evens things up, followed by a set of narrow pan-buster tines. A flat roller consolidates the soil before a Fiona seeder box drops the grass seed on the ground.

The key to avoiding a build-up of dead grass is a fast rotor speed and a slow forward speed, says the company, which recommends a work rate of 3mph. The unit costs £13,000.
