McCormick”s triple launch

By Nick Fone

McCORMICK HAS launched three tractors to replace the top three models of its MTX range.

The new XTX series ranges from 162hp to 195hp, matching the power output of previous range-topping MTX models. However, the XTX series uses an electronically-governed Cummins engine which provides a power boost for pto applications.

This gives the largest model – the XTX 215 – an extra 33hp, taking it from its rated power output of 195hp to 228hp.

A new transmission is also introduced with the XTX range. Previous MTX models were fitted with a four-speed powershift and four mechanically selected ranges.

XTX tractors are equipped with an eight-speed powershift and the option of four powered range changes, providing full powershift steps throughout the speed range.

Speed-matching allows the operator to slow the tractor and shift to the appropriate gear by simply dipping the clutch pedal, according to McCormick.

A new cabin, which can be fitted with a suspension system, also features on the XTX.

The company has adopted a four-post design which allows wide-swinging one-piece doors to be hinged on the rear cab pillar. This not only improves visibility to the left and right, but also allows easier access, says McCormick.

Electronically controlled spool-valves are introduced and linkage lift capacities have been increased by 30%, giving the XTX215 a maximum rating of nearly 11t.
