More slew for mid-range McConnel 62-Series reach mowers
© McConnel An increase in slew angle to 120deg to ease manoeuvres in field corners is among a number of enhancements to McConnel’s mid-range 62-Series Power Arm reach mowers.
The broader scope for positioning the arm also makes for a more compact and secure transport position, says the Ludlow-based manufacturer.

The 62-Series comprises four “conventional” variants with 5.1m, 5.5m and 5.7m horizontal reach, plus a 5.5m version with variable forward reach to place the flail head in a more easily monitored position alongside the tractor.
With a power rating of 60hp from a hydraulics circuit incorporating a cast iron pump and motor, the machines sport McConnel’s trademark Hy-Reach arm installation with a high-mounted rocker pillar, and parallel arm geometry.
These features provide good over-fence and down-a-bank reach, keep the head at a consistent height regardless of reach, and allow a tight-in close cutting position regardless of head height.
In addition to a more generous slew arc, the latest 62-Series machines have high-visibility LED road lighting and a two-piece rear guard for improved service access.
There is also a redesigned 180-litre hydraulic oil tank with a sculpted polypropylene top cover to protect key components from debris and moisture.

Controls
Buyers have a choice of cable or McConnel’s Motion proportional electric control system. The latter is designed for precise fingertip operation, and cable or electric controls for the 1.2m or 1.5m flail heads.
To these can be added hydraulic front hood and rear roller options, together with rotary swinging blade, multi-disc saw and cutterbar attachments, and a heavy-duty rotary ditch and grip cleaner.
