Nitesite spotter tracks livestock in the dark

It may not look much, but this £900 Nitesite spotter from Wiltshire company Mans Location Services claims to allow you to monitor livestock and track pests – human or animal – coming on to your land.
It’s apparently already used by the police and a number of farmers.
It operates in zero ambient light, with a 20x optical zoom and infrared illuminator to give you a clear picture of animals and people up to 400m away, The display also allows the operator’s head to remain vertical, keeping the field of vision wide for thorough surveillance and ease of movement.
The infra-red illuminator is said to provide clear night vision of more than 400m even in total darkness. Focus and zoom controls are positioned to accommodate both left-handed and right-handed users and the unit can be operated with or without gloves.
The battery delivers up to two hours of continuous use on full power and requires 7-8 hours to fully recharge. Operational temperature range is -20°C to 60°C.
