CTM’s Rockstar 1702 destoner got its debut in some hard conditions in north Norfolk last week.
Manufacturers of destoners face a trade-off: make the machine long and separation ability goes up, but manoeuvrability on the headland goes down. And vice versa.
However, CTM reckons its Rockstar, which has five sets of star rollers, solves this. A counter-rotating web above the stars can move in both directions, so in difficult conditions the soil is pushed back on to the stars.
Length is 7.3m and the first models are in production.
