Rotary topper gains greater capacity
Twose of Tiverton – importer of Schulte rotary toppers – has released a new 6.1m (20ft) topper. The FX520 is a high capacity machine that can cover over 80ha a day (200 acres). The unit uses five rotors to slash vegetation in its path – one in the centre deck and two in each of the wing decks, each able to handle material up to 52mm (2in) thick.Power is transferred to the rotors via gearboxes protected by slip clutches. The topper has a minimum power requirement of 120hp and is driven through a wide-angle pto rated at 1000rpm. It folds hydraulically to a 2.3m transport width. The machine weighs nearly 3t and costs 22,325.
