RW 2010: Walter Watson 6.3m rolls on show for the first time

Irish manufacturer Walter Watson showed a 6.3m hydraulic set of rolls for the first time at the show.

The three sections are independently pivoted to follow ground contours and a hydraulic accumulator keeps weight distribution even across the whole width.

Each section has two independently rotating barrels (water ballast is an option), made of 711mm by 10mm steel, which eliminates scrubbing and the whole rig weighs 4t without water and 7t with.

Hydraulic brakes and 400×60 flotation tyres are standard, and the set costs £12,000. A 6.3m Cambridge roller is also available.
