Agritechnica 2025: Deutz-Fahr unleashes 310-340hp 8-series
The top end of Deutz-Fahr’s six-cylinder tractor range has had a serious shot in the arm with the introduction of two 8-series models.
Headline act is the 8340 which, at 340hp, becomes the biggest in the firm’s portfolio.
In its wake is the 8310 that musters a lesser 310hp from the same 6.7-litre FPT engine.

For now, these newbies will sit alongside the 2020-launched 8280 (287hp) and heavier – but similarly powered – 9-series (295-336hp).
The former runs a 6.1-litre Deutz engine; the latter a 7.8-litre unit.
With the new motor comes an electronic variable geometry turbo that should help maintain power output in the face of a slowing crankshaft.
There has been no change in the drivetrain department, with Deutz-Fahr once again calling on ZF’s Terramatic 32 to provide a top speed of 60kph.
But there is a new front axle and revamped suspension system that promise a smoother ride.
The most significant improvements are up top, where long-standing Deutz buyers will no doubt be delighted to see the old Agrotron-derived cockpit and its inward curving pillars finally ousted for a more spacious four-post setup.
As well as extra room, up 30% on the 8280, there’s an entirely new control package.
This includes an A-pillar display that replaces the conventional dashboard – much like John Deere and Case IH – and a far fancier and higher-res armrest-mounted touchscreen.
The joystick has also received attention, gaining eight customisable buttons and a left-right plane to engage cruise control and change direction.
Six rear and two front spools are served by a 220-litre/min hydraulic pump and get pressure relief at the connections.
And there’s now the option of a free-flow return for front-mounted attachments.
Rear lift is 12t and gross train weight 17.5t.
Production is slated to start in the second quarter of 2026.
