Fordson centenary event raises bags of cash for charity

To celebrate a century since the first Fordson tractor rolled off the production line, dealer TH White Agriculture organised a working day in Rowde, near Devizes, on the early May Bank Holiday Monday, with more than 150 tractors turning over the soil.

More than 2,000 tractor enthusiasts and their families funnelled through the gates and were treated to a working demo from a 1917 original Fordson Model F, which was provided by the organisers.

The event had blue and white machines of all sizes, from monster artic Ford FWs to the Model F, which helped change the face of farming when it was introduced 100 years ago during the First World War.

The working demonstrations event raised £8,000 for four charities, including a children’s hospice and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.
