John Deere launches new 75-106hp narrow tractors

A three-model line-up of new narrow tractors has joined the John Deere family, for use in orchards, vineyards, top fruit, polytunnels, glasshouses and other confined-space applications.

In size terms, width particularly, they slot in between the 5GN and 5GF models as part of Deere’s “high-value crop” portfolio.

Built in Deere’s Mexican plant, the 5EN series comprises the 5075EN with 75hp from a 2.9-litre PowerTech EWX three-pot engine, the 5090EN sporting a 4.5-litre four-cylinder diesel of 92hp max, and the 5105EN packing 106hp from the same motor.

The PowrReverser transmission, familiar from the 5E series, comes in 12×12, 30kph and 24×12 near-40kph configurations – the latter having a two-speed splitter – and a creeper unit is optional.

In terms of all-important dimensions, the 5075EN and 5090EN can trim down to 1,325mm, while the 5105M manages only a smidgen more at 1,400mm, subject to track settings and the tyres fitted, of course.

The tractors measure 2.3m to 2.4m to the top of the four-post cabin, which is a standard fit with only the 5075EN available with an open operator platform.

Compared with their predecessors, the newcomers have electronic control for the 2.4t rear hitch (a 1.4t assembly can be installed at the front), and the facility to set and recall two engine speeds – working and turning, for example.

Also, a large digital instrument display provides running information and JDLink connectivity to Deere’s online services.
