Maxam reveals road-friendly TracXtra MS971R tractor tyre

Maxam Tire has developed its first block-tread tyre for tractors that spend a lot of time on hard surfaces, such as roads and tracks.
The TracXtra MS971R is available in two front/rear sets for now, comprising 28in plus 38in sizes and a 30in plus 42in pairing.

The newcomer is engineered with a robust casing structure using steel-belt reinforcement to stabilise the carcass for durability and uniform ground pressure distribution.
Its tread pattern, a dense formation of blocks with an angled lug-like arrangement either side of a central row, is designed to generate decent traction in the field while presenting a large rubber contact area for low-rolling resistance, noise, vibration and wear on the road.
Rated for travel speeds up to 65kph, maximum load capacity at 2 bar (29psi) and 40kph is just over 4.8t for the 650/65 R42, reducing to 3t for a more field-friendly 1 bar (15psi) with a 40kph limit.
The other three sizes revealed so far are 480/80 R38, 540/65 R30 and 440/80 R28; Kirkby Tyres is Maxam’s UK distributor.
