UK Grain: Sukup sets up UK importer

The Danish importer of US-built Sukup crop drying and storage equipment has set up its own UK operation.
“We’ve been active through an importer for three or four years and have around 15 installations here now,” says Jens Erik Iversen, export manager at Dan-Corn. “But now we’ve decided to translate our own way of doing things into the UK market.”
Dan-Corn imports the US company’s storage and drying bins, mobile driers and stirring systems in flatpack form before initial assembly and storage in a 12,000sq m warehouse at its headquarters in Denmark.
“We then pick the items needed for a particular installation, load them on to a truck and ship them,” Mr Iversen explains. “That way, we can be sure that everything needed for a project is delivered on time when it’s needed.”
Dan-Corn/LM floor drying systems are also part of the product range, along with Westfield portable augers from Canada for floor and bin stores.
The Sukup portable drier on show at UK Grain has renewed electrical and gas systems to meet European norms and is assembled and tested by Dan-Corn before shipment. It has two discharge metering rollers – rather than the usual one – at the base of each drying column and the inner one runs a little faster than the other to prevent grain nearest the heat source being over-dried.
There are three models with 20t, 30t and 50t/hr capacity removing 4% moisture and capable of operating on a batch or continuous flow basis.
