VW ups power and towing capacity on Amarok pickup
VW’s Amarok pickup has been given a power boost that takes it from its existing 163hp to 180hp.
Towing limits have also increased from 2,800kg to 3,000kg for manual models, while the eight-speed auto gets a higher towing limit of 3,200 kg. New features include Bluetooth, front and rear parking sensors, heated washer jets, cornering fog lights and 19-inch alloy wheels.
VW’s BlueMotion technology, meanwhile, is said to improve fuel economy by using low rolling resistance tyres, stop/start and regenerative braking.
Torque for the eight-speed automatic transmission increases from 400 to 420 Nm, delivered at 1,750 rpm.
Cost of this plush model is £25,105 + VAT but you can still opt for the somewhat cheaper 122hp model in the Startline range for £18,795 plus VAT.
