A-A show cows go at dispersal
SEVERAL successful show cows featured in last weekends dispersal of the Heath House herd of Aberdeen-Angus cattle for Wolver-hampton breeder Peter Hoddell.
Canadian breeding had been influential in the herd and it was a cow by the Canadian sire GV Buster that sold for the top price of 4000gns. Heath House Lucy 2nd, a second prize winner at the 1995 Royal Show, had a calf at foot and went to Messrs Hodge, Ware, Herts.
Local buyer J Cox paid 2050gns twice. He claimed Royal Pride 26W, an imported 1987-bred cow by QLC Winchester. She was sold with her eighth consecutive heifer calf at foot.
Mr Cox also took the calved heifer Heath House Pride 6th, a Glen Islay Masterpiece daughter suckling a Mushroom Friar Fergus heifer calf.
AVERAGES: 15 cows and heifer calves £1274; nine cows and bull calves £673; eight geld cows £569; 13 heifer calves £468 and two bulls £1207. (United Auctions) *
