Abattoir reopens
ANGLO Beef Producers is to re-open the abattoir at Perth at the end of August. By the end of the year it will handle 1000 cattle a week.
ABP bought the abattoir and a separate boning and packing plant when the Fresh Meat Company went into receivership owing hundreds of individual farmers, lamb groups, and auction marts.
The re-opening follows a £1.5m refurbishment. It gives ABP a dominant position in Scotland with capacity between Perth and Bathgate of 2000 cattle and 20,000 sheep a week.
