African farmers take on the chocolate giants

The Guardian reports on a group of cocoa farmers from Ghana who have
formed a co-op to take on the giants of the chocolates industry – Nestlè-Rowntree, Mars and Cadbury-Schweppes.

The farmers were spurred into action by the low prices offered for their product by the major chocolate processors.

They have since taken a stake in the London-based company called the Day Chocolate Company to market their product direct into the market under the Divine brand.
