Agrivision on the road

THE Royal Agricultural Society of England will take its Agrivision on tour even though the main two-day event failed to live up to expectations.

Only 3000 people attended the exhibition at the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh, on Dec 5-6. Organisers had hoped to attract 9000 visitors. RASE chief executive Mike Calvert said: "The business to business concept provided no social side, and perhaps we should have looked at some halfway house."

Agrivision was organised after foot-and-mouth forced the cancellation of this years Royal Show. It was designed to show the way forward after the crisis. Despite the low attendance, a program of regional Agrivision events will continue as planned, said organisers.

Scheduled to begin in Cornwall on Jan 23 and culminate in Westmorland on Apr 10. RASE conference manager Alan Spedding said he expected up to 1000 delegates would each event depending on the location and activities planned. He added "The regional events will be a bit different to the main Agrivision show. I am condident we will get reasonable numbers" &#42
