Wool-wam…Alachig felt tents are traditionally made in the Caucasian mountains but this one, launched at Sheep 2000, has been constructed in the Herefordshire hills by artist and felt maker Anne Belgrave. It is made from 50 Welsh Black, Masham, Ile de France, Gotland and Shetland fleeces and is 7m in diameter. The tent will be used to advertise the Woolgatherers, a project which researches innovative uses of wool with the aim of encouraging local enterprise. Full report on Sheep 2000 next week.
