Popular myth has it that the 4th Earl of Sandwich invented the sandwich so he could eat while keeping one hand free for gambling. The Sandwich family maintains, however, that the long hours he spent at the Admiralty, where he was First Sea Lord, and the desire to
eat where and when he
wanted inspired the invention. Whatever its origin, nearly 250 years on his descendants have launched a gourmet sandwich business. Seasonality and origin of ingredients are key themes for EOS products, delivered
"to the desk" in London, with the ingredients sourced, where possible, from the familys farm. "The sandwich is a source of national pride for Britain," says John Sandwich.
