Kverneland has developed a system which places the nematicide Temik around a sugar beet seed as it is drilled. A small cup feed system fed by Temik granules is stored in a frame-mounted hopper, the rotation of the cup is synchronised with the seeder unit so granules are released at the correct time. Advantages of the system, says Kverneland, are that the nematicide is placed directly where it will have the most effect and there is a reduction in the amount of chemical used.
