Arms dump farms to be seized

IRISH authorities have told dissident republicans they will begin seizing farms, some worth millions of pounds, which are found to house paramilitary arms dumps.

The justice minister confirmed that emergency land and property confiscation powers brought in after the Omagh bombing will be invoked.

His announcement comes in the wake of the review by US senator George Mitchell of Northern Irelands Good Friday peace agreement.

Guns and mortars have been found in Donegal, Wexford, Wicklow and Meath in recent weeks.
