TEXELS: Mr and Mrs Geraint Jones held a reduction sale from their well-known Erw flock at Ruthin last Friday, achieving a top price of 760gns for a shearling ewe. The flock, which was established in 1979, has produced many prize-winners at both local and national shows. Ruthin Farmers Auction Co saw averages of £205 for 15 aged ewes, £299 for 19 shearling ewes, and £149 for 23 ewe lambs.
DAIRY CATTLE: At Uttoxeters monthly sale of youngstock last week, a bunch of five bulling heifers made £425 apiece. The weekly offering of dairy stock saw a top of £880 for a newly-calved Holstein Friesian heifer, according to auctioneers Bagshaws.
BREEDING SHEEP: At the Dartmoor Sheep Breeders 74th annual show and sale at Plympton, Devon, last week, rams sold to £483, averaging £181. Breeding ewes made to £105, reports auctioneers Luscombe Maye Hands Hughes.
