• AUCTIONEER Lawrie and Symington is holding two Texel female breeding sales this autumn. On Nov 24, the annual draft gimmer sale of 100 ewes from four leading flocks – Muiresk, Glenside, Haddo and Knock – will take place at Lanark Auction Mart. At the same venue on Dec 8, 150 gimmers from Grougfoot, Watchknowe, Canmbwell, Ettrick, Crawfordjohn and Turin flocks will pass under the hammer.
• MORE than 7000 Cheviot lambs were up for auction at Dingwall Auction Marts fourth sale of the season. Trade was good for quality well bred lambs, said the auctioneer. Top price was £27.50 for wether lambs, with ewe lambs trading to £28 a head.
• DARTMOOR and South Devon auctioneer Rendells has announced three dates of suckled calves, store and breeding cattle sales by catalogue and digital photography. The first, the 37th annual Newton Abbot sale of suckled calves, is on Nov 6, while the Newton Abbot sale of store and breeding cattle will be held on Nov 13 and suckled calves, store and breeding cattle sales at Chagford will take place on Nov 14. *
