Asbestos sealer sends algae packing

ALGAE and asbestos are not the best of bedfellows. The one tends to make the other friable and soft and reduces its life expectancy.

To repair or prevent that, Cum-bria-based Quattro has introduced a material that can be either sprayed or brushed on to asbestos roofing. Bestoseal, is said to seal the roof and reproof it against the weather and any regrowth of algae.

The material comes in 5-, 10- and 25-litre units, and costs about 50p/sq m (5p/sq ft) (01768-864977).
