Astwell takes on grassland tackle range

GRAIN handling equipment manufacturer Astwell Augers has taken on production and distribution of the Dowdeswell range of bale wrappers, tedders and bale handling machinery.
Based in Thrapston, Northants, Astwell Augers has also acquired the entire spares stocks for the range – and wrapper production will start in January.
"The former Dowdeswell grassland equipment range should create significant extra turnover next to our grain handling product range," says company director Clive Jones. "The acquisition will now enable our factory in Thrapston to be used to its full manufacturing capability throughout the year."
Production of the wrapper range will run from January to May to meet customer demand in late spring, with grain handling kit and spare parts built during the rest of the year.
Remaining in green livery, the wrappers will include Dowdeswells new 865 model for square and round bales – the model which the new manufacturer intends to major on.
Satisfied with the build quality of the wrapper range, the company says there are plans to further develop electronic control systems after the first year of production.
The bale wrappers, tedders and bale handling equipment will be distributed independently through Dowdeswells former dealers, together with new outlets, says Mr Jones n.
