Aventis and Novartis settle

AVENTIS CropScience has settled a dispute over its Liberty herbicide product with Novartis, reports the Financial Times.

Franco-German life sciences group Aventis said the companies had found a solution to three lawsuits.

They have agreed to promote the use of Liberty on Swiss group Novartiss NK range of insect-resistant hybrid maize seeds.

Sales of the product in 1999 were said to be about 50m.
