Barley field park-and-ride threat to farmer

MORE than 700 objections have been received to proposals to place a park-and-ride scheme on a field of barley at the foot of Old Sarum ancient monument, the original city of Salisbury.

Hilary Sharland, the farmer who will lose half her 8ha (20 acres) of barley to compulsory purchase for the site, is leading the fight.
