BULLS with David Beckham-style hair growth are more aggressive than those with more conservative patterns, claim scientists.

Researchers at Colorado State University found that a spiral of hair on an animals forehead can reveal if it is docile or belligerent, reports The Times.

On some animals the spiral grows on top of the animals forehead, rather like the England captains controversial Mohican haircut.

These animals, and some skinhead bulls which have no whorl, are likely to behave more aggressively than animals on which the spiral is below their eyes.

New Scientist magazine reports that as whorl develops from the same layer of cells which go on to form the nervous system.

This suggests that the pattern could be a marker for neurological development, says researchers.
